10 Amazing Tips For Rocky Mountain National Park
Choose your hikes beforehand if you can—parking lots can be busy!
1
Be on the lookout for wildlife outside the park too! Lots of elk hanging around.
2
Consider going during shoulder season for fewer crowds! If you are headed there after Memorial Day, you’ll need a ticket.
3
Remember to keep the trail nice and neat! There’s plenty of facilities in Rocky Mountain!
4
You’ll find trails for all skill levels. It’s the perfect way to introduce kids to hiking too.
5
Be prepared for changes in weather. It can rain one minute and be sunny the next, so layers are a must!
6
Rent an SUV—you’ll get better gas mileage than a pickup and you’ll need it for bumpy roads to lesser-known hikes.
7
If you’re there in May or June, you’ll likely need some crampons. You can get them for an affordable price and you won’t slip on the snow.
8
Don’t miss Lake Estes! There are some great restaurants and it’s one of the few places you can fly your drone!
9
If you are hiking Emerald Lake, get up early or get there in the early afternoon so you get parking!
