Cut 8 pieces of cord approx 8” long

Make a cross with two horizontal strands crossing over 2 vertical threads

Cross another pair on top vertically
Cross another pair horizontally under and over
Over/under base

Cut an arms length of waxed linen

Fold the waxed linen in half

Slide the folded waxed linen around one pair of cord “spokes”

Begin twining around the spokes in pairs

Leave the piece on the table and hold down with your non-dominant hand for stability. Tighten the waxed linen as you go

Continue around in a circle

Do at least 3 rows. At this point you can pick it up and turn the base as you twine

Cut another 4 pieces cord approx 8” long

Lay 2 strands diagonally on top of your base

Twine around the new pair of spokes

Twine around the circle including the new spokes in pairs

Lay in another two spokes on the opposite diagonal

All the spokes securely twined in pairs
(The back of the base)
Begin twining around individual spokes

Continue to twine indivisible spokes until you’ve reached your desired base width

Use a Bobby pin or small nail to push the waxed linen down to adjust tension

When you run out of thread tie a knot around the last spoke and start a new piece of linen on the next spoke.

You can carry the tied ends along with the next spoke. Continue to treat the ends like they are part of the spoke for a few rounds
After a few rounds the ends will be secured and you can trim them
Continue until your desired base diameter. (at least 2”)
