Place the sugar and the lavender (if using) in a bowl and rub between fingers to infuse sugar

Whisk in the flour, salt, baking powder and

Zest - you could have also added and rubbed the zest into the sugar with the lavender too (either way is fine) - set aside

Whisk together the eggs, oil, yoghurt and vanilla

Until fully incorporated

Mix wet ingredients into the dry minus the blood orange juice

Then mix in the blood orange juice

Pour into prepared loaf pan

Rap a few times against the counter and then bake for approx 1 hr or until deeply golden and tester comes out clean

When loaf is almost ready to come out of the oven - whisk together the powdered sugar and the blood orange juice

Remove all but 1/4 cup of the glaze and set aside for when the loaf is completely cool- will need to be whisked again just before using

Add 1 tbsp of water to the 1/4 cup of glaze and whisk to thin out

As soon as loaf is out of the oven brush on the thinned out glaze while loaf is hot then allow to cool in pan 10 min

Remove loaf from pan

Brush rest of it with the thinned out glaze and allow to cool completely
