Coffee Filter Pansies
Pansies are flowers that we can plant in early spring and fall
1
They are so colorful! Pansies are the official flower of Osaka, Japan.
2
To make our pansies we need chenille wire, coffee filter, oil pastels and scissors.
3
You can paint the white filters with tempera paint. Let dry completely! Do a day ahead.
4
Find center by folding in half, then again.
5
Open, Mark center where two creases meet.
6
Draw a “Y” on the coffee filter as shown. Divide spaces on left and right in half.
7
The pansy has five petals. One below center, one on right, one on left, two at top.
8
Round off edges, at the bottom of each line (at edge).
9
Look carefully at colors. Here are some color combinations you can use.
10
Start adding color. Use at least three colors.
11
Color around edges
12
Add more color between petals ( the original lines we drew)
13
Cut on lines. DO NOT cut all the way to center! Then trim the edges on curves that were drawn earlier.
14
Put your finger on dot. Pick up flower, turn over and twist end.
15
Add stem as shown
