Sift together the flour, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, salt, and cloves

In the stand mixer with the whisk attachment, add the melted shortening, sugar, and molasses

Mix until smooth

Add in the egg and mix until smooth

Switch to the paddle attachment

Add in the flour mixture while mixing on low until a dough forms

Roll the dough out on parchment paper or on the silicone mat to 1/4” thick

Bake at 300°F for 35-45 minutes or until a nice deep brown

Add melted isomalt to the windows before you lift up the pieces from the silicone mat

Use a kitchen torch to remove the texture and make the windows clear

Glue all the walls together with thick royal icing and allow to dry one hour

Glue on the roof and allow to dry one out or overnight

Decorate with more royal icing and your favorite candies! I used a battery operated tea light to light up the windows
