Chop up 1 cup dates (remove seeds). Soak chopped dates into 1 cup boiling water. Add in 1 tsp baking soda. Leave 30ish mins till dates soften up

Using electric beater, beat 90 grams butter with 1/2 cup castor sugar till fluffy

Beat in one egg.

Add in 1 tsp vanilla essence. Mix

Fold in the date mixture (including the water)

Add in 1 cup chopped walnuts

Sift flour (confusing part- but follow this : 3/4 cup plus 3 tbsp) , plus 1 tsp baking powder, plus a pinch of salt. Mix this into butter mixture

Butter baking pan. Pour out batter. Bake at 350F (till cake is done). Time may vary depending on each oven (approx 35-40 mins).

Prep sauce: into saucepan add 1 pack cream (I used Milk Pak). 2-3 tbsp butter; 3-4 tbsp brown sugar. Mix on low flame till well incorporated

Pour sauce over warm cake

Garnish with some chopped walnuts
