Today we will learn a quick and easy way to make your own colorful tissue paper wrapping.
1
First add water to your containers. The water should cover the bottom but not be very deep.
2
If you have regular watercolors, stain your water with a brush by rinsing the color repeatedly.
3
With the liquid watercolors, add drops and stir until the color is concentrated.
4
Add a different color to each container.
5
Now let’s fold our sheets of tissue paper. The first one I’ll fold like a paper football.
6
Every folding pattern creates different results. Be creative and fold them all into small shapes.
7
Now let’s dye our paper. You can dip a corner deep into one color and then a little into another.
8
You can dip the sides of your shapes, or the corners.
9
You can leave some areas white in between or let some colors touch and bleed into each other.
10
The tissue paper is very fragile when wet. If you can, undo a few folds so they dry faster.
11
If you can’t find where to unfold or if it begins to tear, just leave it folded.
12
You can hang them to dry on a clothesline...
13
... or you can lay them flat to dry.
14
As they dry, you can undo more folds to help the insides dry.
15
Once completely dry, open them fully. If you don’t like the creases, you can gently iron them flat.
16
You can also do this activity to use up leftover egg dye, fabric dye, or inks. Be experimental!
17
Have fun and use your colorful tissue paper to wrap gifts with flair!
