Design the backsplash in pieces and use Legos to mock up the design

Flip the pieces upside down & build molds around them.Use flat tile Lego bricks to line mold inside
2
Pour Quikrete Countertop Mix into mold. Use stick to push it down. Vibrate with Orbital sander
3
Let concrete cure for 3 days. Use needle nose pliers to remove stuck Legos
4
Separate Lego pieces and put them in a mesh bag
5
Put mesh bag with cup of vinegar in the washing machine. Set water temperature to cold
6
Large mesh bags are best.A few pieces of concrete can be embedded in Lego but you can still use them
7
Check the fit of the first piece and move on to the next

Cut 1/2” thick Maple to make racks to insert into the concrete pieces for your larger dishes
9
Sand the pieces with an Orbital sander
10
Glue pieces together
11
Add stainless steel screws
12
For unusually shaped dishes make a peg board system by drilling 1/4” holes on a board
13
Finish the wood pieces with a food grade sealer meant for cutting boards
14
Seal the concrete pieces with Quikrete water proofing sealer
15
Check that the pieces fit. Pour water in them to make sure they drain in the right direction
16
Use silicone to install the pieces, so you can remove for cleaning
17
Use silicone to seal joints between the pieces
18
Add the peg board and the maple insert
19
If concrete pieces break when removing from mold, glue them with Quikrete Anchoring Epoxy
