Measure your board exactly- should be about 36” long x 18” in between each piece of trim
1
Cut to exact lengths: we had two 36 1/8” pieces and two 19 1/8” pieces
2
Sand down the edges and surface of your trim
3
Using gloves and a dropcloth, apply your conditioner (don’t forget the edges), let dry
4
Lightly apply your stain, wiping off any excess, add extra coats until desired darkness, let dry
5
Clean off the chalkboard and under-trim surfaces
6
Apply liquid nails at each corner of trim, as well as along the middle
7
Carefully line up the edges of your two longest pieces and press them down slowly
8
If you want it to dry faster, you can place the trim down, lift it up, and then replace it again
9
Put some heavy weights all around the trim and leave for 24 hours
