Easy Single Layer Chocolate Cake
Gather and correctly measure out all your ingredients
1
In a small bowl, combine hot water, cocoa powder, brown sugar and vanilla extract. Give it a quick mix to combine
2
In a large bowl, beat butter and sugar until pale.
3
Add the egg and mix to incorporate (do not worry if the mixture curdles)
4
Add the sifted dry ingredients and mix on lowest speed.
5
Add the cocoa mixture into the batter. Mix on low speed to form a runny batter. Finish off by scraping the sides of the bowl to fully combine.
6
Pour batter into greased and floured tin. Bake at 170C/325F/Gas 3 for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the centre comes out clean.
7
Leave to cool completely before serving with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Enjoy πŸ™‚
