Essential Ann Arbor: A Downtown Walking Tour
TIP: Parking in Ann Arbor can be a challenge. Choose a downtown lot; Maynard Street puts you at our first stop on the tour.
Across the street on Maynard: Nickels Arcade, home to unique shops like Mix clothing, Madison Edwards Tobacconist, The Arcadian Antiques, and more.
In Nickels Arcade, Comet Coffee’s perfect for getting caffeinated for your walk.
Walk through the Arcade and cross the street. Welcome to U Mich! Stroll the spacious quad and campus.
Heading back downtown to Liberty Street, find 2 great theaters: the Michigan, a classic restored movie palace, and the State. See what’s playing!
The Dawn Treader, across the street, is an amazing used and vintage book store. Of course, check out the Travel section!
Literati, one block over on Washington, is great for new books. Crazy Wisdom on Main has alternative titles.
Kerrytown independently-owned shops: a market, Spun textiles, Mudpuddles Toys, 16 Hands for handcrafted pieces, and FOUND home goods are just a few.
Finally, Zingerman’s Deli, an Ann Arbor classic. Shop the store for fine foods, and, especially, grab a sandwich, like a Georgia Reuben.
