Get all the ingredients ready

Grind 1/2 cup rice (to a fine texture)

Let it soak in water for around 30 minutes

Into a pan pour in 1 liter milk. Let it come to a boil on low to medium flame

Add in 5 to 7 cardamoms (seeds only)

Drain out water from rice bowl

Now add the rice to the pot & cook on very low flame

Keep stirring at regular intervals. Cook till you achieve a thickish milk consistency

Next, add in 1 & 1/4 cup sugar (adjust to taste) & mix it well. Let it cook for some time

Add 1/2 tsp kewra (a few drops if you’ve got essence) and cook the firni for another 10-15 mins

Pour into mitti kay bowls (or a regular dessert dish)

Garnish & refrigerate. Serve cold
