The Timken Museum of Art: A fine arts museum in Balboa Park that's free to enter, showcasing famous works by European and American artists.
Oceanside Municipal Pier: An old wooden pier with great sunrise and sunset views. An excellent spot for photographers.
Old Town San Diego: See the restored houses and shops in the "birthplace of California".
Anza-Borrego Desert State Park: A huge park about 2 hours from downtown San Diego. Great for hikes, finding wildflowers and picnics.
