10 Free Things To Do In Washington D.C.
Hey I’m Savanna from Swift-n-Savvy travel blog showing you all the free things D.C. has to offer! (Most were done pre-covid, so plan accordingly)
All the the Smithsonian museums are free! There are 22 museums they offer (including the National Zoo). Check out my Smithsonian Museum guide!
Lincoln Memorial! This is currently open and is open 24 hours a day!
Ford’s Theater and The Petersen House! See the historic theater and the house where Lincoln passed away. There’s a Musuem under the theater as well.
Take a tour of the Capitol Building! Reservations are required and the house and senate galleries are not a part of the tour.
Visit your state senators and get tickets to see inside the House and Senate Galleries!
Take a trip up the Washington Monument! This required a reservation online and I visited in October with social distancing in place.
Unable to get a reservation for the Monument? The clock tower in Trump hotel is a free lookout point that many don’t know about.
Pay your respects at Arlington Cemetery. This requires a short Metro ride, but entrance is free.
Walk the National Mall, Tidal Basin and surrounding areas. There are many memorials and gardens to be found!
Walk around Georgetown! There are so many shops and restaurants in Georgetown and the neighborhood is so beautiful!
I hope this helps you on your D.C. trip in the future!
