French Onion Salisbury Steak
Tender and delicious French Onion Salisbury Steak is suspended in resplendent onion and wine sauce.
Smothered in onions caramelized in a rich stock, this dish is maximum enjoyment for minimal effort.
Begin by assembling the patties. It’s just like making burgers, but a bit more oval.
After dredging in flour, add to a hot skillet to brown on each side, but not to cook completely.
Watch me INTENTIONALLY ‘burn’ the tomato paste. I’m building flavor in the caramelization. DO THIS!
The sauce will not taste burned, rather rich and complex. Add the patties and juices and simmer.
Plate the patties over the prepared cheese toasts with a ladleful of the onion gravy.
These hearty beef ‘steaks’ are flavorfully reminiscent of French Onion Soup!
If I’m lucky enough to have gravy left over, I freeze it for later use in my Dixie Pot Roast.
