Holiday Crafts: DIY A Happy Hanukkah Wall Hanging
I’m using an inexpensive wood shadow box from Michael’s. Trace it onto a piece of scrap paper.
1
Cut out the template, making sure it fits flat in the shadow box.
2
Trace the template onto fun paper. I’m using a solid color and will add hand lettering later. Make sure it lays flat.
3
Add 2 coats of paint to the box. The inside back panel only needs 1 coat, it will be covered later.
4
If you’re adding lettering, use the original scrap paper template to sketch.
5
Once you have a layout you like, lightly sketch it on the colored paper.
6
Trace your sketch, I’m using an opaque white gel pen.
7
Let the pen dry completely before erasing pencil lines.
8
Finish your illustration and add fun extra details like stars or snowflakes.
9
Use Mod Podge Matte to apply your illustration to the inside of the shadow box.
10
I decided to also add patterned paper to the outside. Make a template...
11
Then trace and cut a piece for each side of the shadow box.
12
Apply with Mod Podge just like you did the inside.
13
Follow my Jumprope to make felt dreidels. Only add one string for hanging. Cut a few extra flat dreidels.
14
Hot glue the extra flat dreidels around the border of the shadow box.
15
Decide the length of each hanging dreidel, tie a knot at the top & cut off excess yarn. Hot glue to the shadow box.
16
Add some extra sparkle with gold puff paint.
