Homemade Cream Of Chicken Soup
Melt 1/4 cup butter in a saucepan over medium-high heat.
Add 1/4 cup all-purpose flour and whisk to break up any lumps.
It should be bubbly, smooth, and starting to thicken.
Slowly add in 1 1/2 cups milk and 1/2 cup chicken broth (I mix them together and add at the same time), whisking constantly.
Add in 1/4 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tsp onion powder, 1/4 tsp paprika, and 1/4 tsp black pepper.
Continue to whisk as the mixture bubbles gently, until thickened to your desired consistency. Keep in mind it will thicken more as it cools!
Use in your favorite recipes—it’s such a flavorful alternative to the canned version!
