Homemade Wontons - Easy
Mix all ingredients. 1 lb.ground pork + 1/2 cup chopped scallions + 1/2 cup coarsely grated carrots + 1/2 cup diced celery + 3 clovesminced garlic
2 tbsp soy sauce + 1 tbsp corn starch + 1 tsp sesame oil
Stir to mix in. Use your hands to evenly mix in.
Wonton Wrapper: I purchased mine from an Asian or international food market. Wonton wrappers are 3-inch x 3-inch square.
Dip your index finger in water & paint water around the outer edge of the wrapper. Place 1 1/2 tsp of the filling on the wrapper.
Fold the wrapper over to form a pocket w/ the filling sealed inside.
Heat oil to 375F (190C). Deep fry the wontons in a deep fryer or a deep frying pan w/ at least 3 inches of oil in it.
Use a thermometer to monitor the oil temperature. Keep the oil a steady 375degrees F. If the oil too cold, wonton soak up. Too hot, they burn.
Fry wonton a few at a time for 3-5 minutes.
For Dipping Sauce: Mx 1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce + 1 tsp of rice vinegar, sesame oil & sugar. 1 tbsp chopped scallions.
