How To Create Cosplay Corrugated Steel Using Worbla
Using reference photos, scale and pattern your armor piece.
1
Cut 3/8” wooden dowels into 10 inch sticks.
2
Sand off the rough edges so they’re smooth like these.
3
Lay down a layer of duct tape, sticky side up.
4
Space dowels evenly across tape.
5
Apply a thin layer of Vaseline so the Worbla won’t stick.
6
Heat and press Worbla onto dowels. Use a silicone tool to press in details.
7
Look at those consistent ridges!
8
Using an X-Acto knife, trim the formed Worbla into desired shapes.
9
Apply a thin layer of Rub ‘n Buff, then buff with a shoe shining brush.
10
I prefer using my fingers, but a dry brush works as well.
11
The ridges make glueing difficult, so I prefer sewing the Worbla after its shaped and painted.
12
And there it is! The ridged Worbla adds so much texture and detail to this build.
