Dye your fondant into several shades of brown using gel food coloring (I used 3)

Roll the different colored pieces together

Continue to roll, twist, and fold fondant until you achieve then grain you would like. The more you roll the smaller the grain.

Divide into pieces about 3-4 inches in length and place side by side.

Roll out your fondant. I used dough sticks to get 1/4” thickness.

Cut fondant into planks. Mine are 2” wide.

Peel away the excess scraps and cut to size

Using a fondant wood grain stamp, press the pattern into the fondant. If you don’t have one you can use a fondant tool to add some depth to the grain.

Mix vodka with 2 shades of brown gel food coloring and paint your planks. I used a darker color for the knots of wood.
