How to Create Wood Planks From Fondant
Dye your fondant into several shades of brown using gel food coloring (I used 3)
1
Roll the different colored pieces together
2
Continue to roll, twist, and fold fondant until you achieve then grain you would like. The more you roll the smaller the grain.
3
Divide into pieces about 3-4 inches in length and place side by side.
4
Roll out your fondant. I used dough sticks to get 1/4” thickness.
5
Cut fondant into planks. Mine are 2” wide.
6
Peel away the excess scraps and cut to size
7
Using a fondant wood grain stamp, press the pattern into the fondant. If you don’t have one you can use a fondant tool to add some depth to the grain.
8
Mix vodka with 2 shades of brown gel food coloring and paint your planks. I used a darker color for the knots of wood.
9
And you’re done! They are ready to be added to your project!
