2H, or 2HB has a lighter color, does not smudge easy, 6B is very soft, dark and does smudge.

Blending Stick
Start drawing tree, wider at the bottom, thinner as it "grows".

Larger branches can be drawn in a normal direction, thin twings point with the wind.

Draw texture on bark with pencil point, shading with side of pencil.

Use a smudge stick to aid with blending.

Draw leaves, have some "flying"
Add fallen leaves and you can add a"kicked up" spot.

You can lay a paper towel down to prevent smudging.

Draw a loose circle to show a little wind swirl.

To separate the ground from the tree, use diff. pencil lines in those places.

Show distant leaves by only using the blending stick.

For finer lines, use a 2H pencil.

Draw more leaves with both the pencil and blending stick.

Last step, use a kneading eraser to lighten some areas.
