It feels like spring. Let's draw some bees and ... chamomile because it tastes lovely with honey. πŸ˜‰
Think about the layout of your drawing. Here are some steps to help you draw a bee and some chamomile to feed her.
Sketch in pencil first. Then use a calligraphy pen to go over it in ink. We'll draw a couple of bees first.
1
And now the chamomile. Draw blooms facing all different directions as they do in real life. (Take your time; this is sped up about 5x.) Let it dry.
2
Use an old brush or a skewer (like I did) to apply masking fluid to the chamomile petals to keep them white while you paint. Let it dry completely.
3
Paint a loose green watercolor background.
4
Tap a little yellow into the center of the blooms. Don't worry too much about staying inside the lines.
5
Loosely paint a little brown on your honey bees. Keep the wings light and the bodies darker.
6
When it's dry or almost dry, paint the stems a darker green to help them stand out.
7
Let it dry completely before you remove the masking fluid. You can rub it gently with your finger or use an eraser.
8
A little splatter almost always looks nice. Yellow and green will tie this one together.
9
And you're finished!
Now you can try another bright tutorial.
