Before: basic brown wood buffet.
1
Clean inside and out with White Lightning.
2
After cleaning rinse with water.
3
Color choice for this item- Sawmill Gravy & Dried Sage. Top will be stained in No Pain Gel Stain.
4
No Pain Gel Stain wipes on directly over top of existing finishes. No sanding necessary.
5
Wipe on in the direction of the wood grain. Two coats will be needed. Using a rag or applicator pad.
6
This is one coat of Espresso No Pain Gel Stain.
7
Remove original hardware. Clean with White Lightning.
8
Paint the base with Sawmill Gravy. I used a flat medium brush dampened with water.
9
Using a spray misting bottle filled with water helps minimize brush strokes.
10
Wait until the paint dries.
11
One coat of Sawmill Gravy and one coat of Espresso Gel stain.
12
Sand back the paint to distress and show edges. Making it look rustic.
13
Using Dried Sage, blot off excess paint onto a paper towel. Using a light hand brush on top.
14
This shows the wood surface and gives it a rustic look. Add layers as you like.
15
I like to use a chip brush to apply the Dried Sage and build the layers.
16
Using Best Dang Wax in Brown apply to edges. Wipe back so it sits in the grooves. I use a wet wipe.
17
This adds age and definition to the front.
18
Apply the second coat to the top of the buffet.
19
The top of the buffet is dark and rich. The Gel Stain covered all the scratches and old color.
20
I also used the Gel Stain on the feet to match the top.
21
Using Satin clear coat I sealed the Espresso Gel Stain.
22
I sealed the base of the buffet using Best Dang Wax in Clear.
23
Install the hardware.
24
Complete! A rustic buffet!
25
The dry brush look accents the wood detail.
26
The Brown wax ages the edges.
