Head north on Biscayne Bay. You’ll pass lots of fancy homes that line North Bay Road.

Follow the markers to stay in the channel. Police boats will pull you over if you violate the no-wake zones.

Head to the ocean through the Haulover inlet, which cuts between Bal Harbour and Sunny Isles. We’ll return through the bigger inlet to the south.

Turn right to head south. No markers on the ocean side and you don’t have to worry about depth. The tall buildings are hotels & condos of Bal Harbour.

If you head a few miles off shore, you’ll find cruise ships parked. They’re zombie ships parked here waiting for post-pandemic cruising to begin.

Yes, that’s a boat full of bananas. The Chiquita Banana company has five such boats that ferry fresh bananas around the world.

Re-enter Biscayne Bay via Government Cut. Be careful as you’ll often find large cargo and cruise ships here. Private Fisher Island is on the left.

If you have a small boat, you can turn right after South Point, but taller boats can’t fit under the Venetian Causeway bridge on the eastern channel.

If you have a lager boat, Head west toward Downtown Miami. Pass to the left of the cargo ships at the port. It’s the 13th busiest port in the US.

Turn right when you reach the channel along downtown. The city had the third tallest skyline in the US.

To your right, you’ll find the main channel, which is one of the largest cruise ship terminals. This channel is off limits to normal boats.

To your left you’ll find sites like the American Airlines Arena (Miami Heat home) and the Perez Art Museum.

Hook another right to head back toward Miami Beach on the north side of the Venetian Islands.
