How To "Join-as-you-go" In Tunisian Crochet
Before getting started, you will need to be familiar with the basics of Tunisan Crochet, and know how to crochet the Tunisian Simple Stitch (Tss).
Abbreviations (U.S terms)
Set up: with C1, ch 11. Work a small swatch in Tss. This is Panel 1.
1
Find the chain at the bottom right-hand corner of Panel 1.
2
Insert hook into this chain. Yarn over C2 and pull through.
3
Base ch for Panel 2: Ch 10.
4
Pull up a loop in back bump of second ch from hook and each ch across until you reach Panel 1.
5
Find the edge st of the foundation row of Panel 1. You will work the "join stitch" through the centre of this stitch AND the loop directly behind it.
6
Insert hook into edge stitch as shown. Yarn over and pull through. Join made. This "join stitch" replaces the "end stitch" of a regular Tunisian row.
7
Yarn over and pull through 2 loops. Complete Return Pass (RetP) as normal.
8
Row 2 Forward Pass (FwP): Starting in the second vertical bar, Tss across until you reach Panel 1.
9
Work "join stitch" and RetP as for previous row.
10
Repeat Row 2 until all rows have been joined to Panel 1.
11
Bind off row: insert hook into second vertical bar, yarn over and pull through 2 loops. Repeat "sl st bind off" across. Join to Panel 1 with a sl st.
