How To Make A Linocut Cosplay Samurai Battle Flag
Begin by creating your design by hand or digitally.
1
Cut a piece of graphite transfer paper slightly larger than your block.
2
Tape down transfer paper, then design. Trace.
3
Check to be sure your design fully transferred.
4
Using a lino cutter, remove all white areas.
5
Here’s my fully carved block.
6
Print your block onto canvas using oil-based ink.
7
Add detail with watercolor paints.
9
Sew strapping loops onto the top and one side.
Cut some dry bamboo to size.
Overlap joint and wrap in tape.
10
Cut tape. Remove. Be careful to maintain its shape.
11
Get some Worbla Mesh Art. It’s reinforced with woven fibers providing extra holding strength.
12
Trace your tape template onto the Worbla Mesh Art.
13
Trim out with a heavy pair of shears.
14
Activate the Worbla Mesh Art with a heat gun.
15
Wrap around the bamboo joint and press into place. It is self-adhesive while warm.
16
Add one more layer for added stability.
17
Soak some leather lacing and wrap the Worbla sealed joint.
18
After dried, the lacing will shrink and harden. Age with some paint.
19
And there you go. Add to your favorite samurai cosplay.
