Prepare batter, pipe, bake, frost, eat!

In a food processor combine powdered sugar, almond flour, and half of salt. Bend until smooth

Sift the mixture into a separate bowl and set aside

In a large bowl, beat the egg whites and remaining salt with an electric mixer until soft peaks form

Once soft peaks form, gradually add sugar and continue beating on high until stiff peaks form

Add the vanilla and beat until mixed. Then add the food coloring and beat until just combined

Add 1/3 of flour mixture into egg white mixture and fold until combined. Repeat for the rest.

Transfer batter to piping bag and line baking tray with parchment paper

Pipe Macarons into 1” circles spaced 1” apart on parchment paper

Tap baking sheet on a flat surface to rid air bubbles. Let them sit 30-60 min. Set oven to 300°F.

Bake for 17 minuets or until feet are well risen. Transfer to wire rack to let them cool completely.

Now to make the butter cream (use the starred ingredients*)

In a bowl beat butter until fluffy. Sift in powdered sugar and beat until incorporated.

Add vanilla, beat to combine. Add 1/2 of the milk at a time and beat. Add to piping bag

Add a dollop of buttercream to a cookie and top with another cookie. Repeat with remaining macarons.
