How to Make Perfect Mashed Potatoes
Peel potatoes with a really good vegetable peeler.
1
Rinse and then uniformly dice the potatoes.
2
Add potatoes and water to a pot. Cover potatoes with at least 1-2 inches of water.
3
Add 2 teaspoons salt and bring to a boil. Once it boils, allow to boil for at least 8-10 minutes.
4
Test a few potatoes for fineness. Remove a couple of pieces and stab it with a fork.
5
Drain the potatoes thoroughly. Turn the burner to low. Cover and let the potatoes sit for 15 min.
6
Add butter and milk. Be sure to add the liquid in gradually.
7
Mash the potatoes with a potato masher. Add more liquid if needed.
8
Season with pepper and salt if needed. Add a dash of nutmeg (that’s optional).
