How To Propagate Broken Plant Stems
My cranberry hibiscus plant snapped in half due to a heavy wind!
Luckily this plant can be propagated and make many new plants from the tragedy
Cut the plant at the point of the break on the stem
1
If you have a long stem, cut into multiple pieces to increase the chances of survival
2
Be sure each cutting has several nodes. This is where roots will grow
3
Remove lower leaves to expose the nodes and conserve energy on the cutting
4
You can peel them off or remove with scissors
5
I have several cuttings, each with 3-4 nodes exposed
6
Place cuttings in water
7
Keep your cuttings in a warm or sunny spot
8
After a few weeks, roots will start to grow!
