How to Sew an Easy Fabric Basket! Cut 4 fabric squares 10” x 10”. Cut 2 interfacing squares 10”x 10”. Fuse the interfacing to 2 of the fabric squares. Place those two squares right sides together. Cut out 2.5” squares from the bottom corners. Repeat with the 2 non-interfaced squares. Save the 2.5” squares for a patchwork project! Fold and press the top edges of all 4 pieces back by 1/4”. Pin the interfaced pieces right sides together. Sew the side and bottom edges with a 1/4” S. A. Unfold the top edge temporarily to sew the side seams. Flatten the basket with the side seam against the bottom seam to box the corner. Pin. Stitch across with a 1/4” seam allowance. Sew the non-interfaced pieces the same way. Place the basket bottoms together. Pin or clip the seams together. Sew across the seams on each side - sewing right on top of the previous stitching. Turn one basket piece up over the other so they are wrong sides together. Pin or clip the top edges together all around. Sew all the way around the top, 1/8” from the edge. Fold the top edge down and enjoy your beautiful basket! It’s reversible too! Click to visit my blog post for a more detailed tutorial.
