How To Show Distance In A Landscape.
Ways to show distance in art.
1
Draw a horizon line.
2
Add a zig zag line that stops at the horizon.
3
Add a line next to the zig zag line showing a space between them that gets larger as it comes closer
4
Draw an irregular line at the horizon to show trees or hills.
5
Add a series of irregular lines above the hills.
6
Add grasses along the river. Larger groups of grasses are closer.
7
Look at your landscape. How did you use those 6 things in your drawing?
8
Warmer greens closer to us help create distance.
9
Cooler colors in the mountains.
10
The river has less contrast and the details disappear farther away.
11
The sky gets lighter closer to the horizon line too.
12
Add some details in the front.
13
Now you try a landscape!
