How To Single Crochet
For this tutorial I’m using a #5 bulky weight yarn & a 6.5mm hook. The yarn needle and scissors are for weaving in ends when you’re done.
1
Start with a slip knot on your hook.
2
Chain to any number and add one more for a turning chain. I ch 20 here.
3
Turn chain over, skip 1st ch & insert your hook in next ch.
4
Yarn over and pull up a loop (2 loops on hook). Yo again & pull through both loops on your hook. 1 sc made.
5
Insert hook in next st, yo, pull up a loop, yo and pull through both loops. Next sc is made.
6
Repeat step 6 to crochet another sc. Now you have 3 sc.
7
Keep repeating across the row. Row 1 done.
8
Turn your work. In crochet you work from the right to the left.
9
Ch 1 to start a new row, this is your turning chain and does not count as a stitch.
10
Insert hook under top two loops of the first st and sc.
11
Continue to sc in each st across the row.
12
Keep repeating steps 10-12 until your length is reached. Then cut yarn and weave in ends.
