How to Splatter Paint a Graphic Watercolor Background
Draw the shapes that you want watercolored. Shapes with straight edges are easiest.
1
Use washi tape to outline your shapes.
2
Use scrap paper and washi tape to cover any part of your paper that you don’t want watercolored.
3
Add a light wash of color inside your shapes.
4
Rub your finger along a flat brush to splatter paint watercolor inside your shapes.
5
Use paper towels to lightly dab up excess water if needed.
6
Let dry completely then remove all of the tape and scrap paper from your watercolor.
7
Erase pencil marks if needed.
8
Leave your artwork as is or add illustration and lettering!
