Vintage suitcase and a old luggage rack. Let’s make a table!
1
Made with
Clean the entire surface with White Lightning. I spray painted the hardware gold. Let’s prep!
2
Made with
Since the surface is shiny plastic I covered the suitcase in Slick Stick. This is a bonding primer.
3
Made with
I used Gel Stain in Espresso to cover the wood rack. This is applied directly over the finish.
4
Made with
Drill the rack into the suitcase.

The design choice for this piece is Papillon Decor transfer from Hokus Pokus & Blueberry!
6
Made with
Blueberry by Dixie Belle. I used a flat medium brush to apply the color. Two coats will be needed.

Let’s plan the transfer placement. Lay it down while attached to the backing and cut to size.

Hokus Pokus transfers arrive in a tube with the burnishing stick inside. As well as instructions.
9
Made with
I sealed the entire suitcase in Clear Coat applied with a sponge. This helps the transfer adhere.
10
Made with
Using a blue sponge to apply the clear coat evenly.
11
Made with
Place your transfer down and remove the backing. Use the stick to burnish it down. Pull back gently

You can see the transfer release from the plastic.
13

After applying the transfer I sealed the suitcase in Clear Coat Satin applied with a sponge.
14
Made with
Using Spray Wax applied to the corners I brushed on Dixie Dirt in Charcoal with a Belle Brush.
15

This ages the suitcase and adds depth.
16
Made with
I used my finger to apply Gold Gilding Wax to the edges.
17
Made with
I cut foam board to the size of the interior top and base. This will be covered in material.
18
Made with
I applied the remaining parts of the transfer to the material. This will be located on the top.
19
Made with
I used a glue gun to adhere the material to the inside. The foam board will cover the bottom edge.
20
Made with
Using hot glue I attached the top foam board and inserted the base.
