Vintage suitcase makeover. Remove lining and clean with White Lightning.
1
Solid shape. Wood inside.
2
Let’s spray the old silver to gold. Handles too!
3
Since the outer case is plastic proper preparation with Slick Stick will be needed.
4
Slick Stick will help your paint adhere. Two coats. Waiting 24 hours for it to dry before paint.
5
Measure the foam board to the size on the top and bottom. This will be covered in fabric.
6
Two pieces. One for the top and one for the bottom.
7
Hairpin legs. These will be added to the base.
8
Paint them gold to match the hardware.
9
Attach to the base.
10
Finally ready for paint!
11
Color choice is Aubergine from Dixie Belle.
12
Two coats using a flat medium brush to apply.
13
Smaller brush will be needed around details.
14
Paint the interior lip as well.
15
Seal the paint with Satin Clear Coat. I use a blue sponge to apply.
16
Dampen the sponge and wipe on.
17
Let’s apply a Iron Orchid Design Decor Transfer.
18
I cut this to size and burnish down with a plastic tool.
19
Remove backing. Apply to surface.
20
Pull back the plastic and apply another coat of Clear Coat in Satin.
21
I used scraps of the transfer to apply to the front as well.
23
This fabric was applied to the foam board. I used a glue gun to adhere.
24
Measure the sides on the interior of the case. Cut the fabric with a overhang of about 1 inch.
25
I used two sided tape to fold over the top edge and then hot glue it to the top edge.
26
Working the way around the edge.
27
Now the boring suitcase is a gorgeous table!
29
Colorful and bold.
30
A table with storage!
31
Fresh interior.
