Soak 1.5 cups of Brown Chana in 5 cups of water & soak for 6 hours or overnight

Add the soaked Chana into a pressure cooker & add some salt

Close the lid & pressure cook for 2 whistles

In a mixie jar, Add 1/2 cup grated coconut

A small piece of ginger

Grind into a paste without adding any water

Drain water from the cooked black Chana & reserve it if needed for the using in other dishes

In a pan, heat 2 tablespoons of cooking oil

Splutter Mustard Seeds

Add Urad & Chana Dal

Sauté until the dals get crunchy. Will take about a minute

Add the ground paste

Some torn curry leaves

Add another tablespoon of oil if the mixture feels too dry. Cook for a minute

Add cooked Chana

Add 1/2 a teaspoon of Jaggery Powder

Spoon about 3 tablespoons of Usli in small bowls ( Donne) & serve
