Long Tail Cast On For Knitting
Pull out a long tail, you’ll use it to cast on so make sure it’s enough for the number of stitches you need.
2
Start with a slip knot on your needle. This will count as the first stitch cast on.
3
Keep the long tail on the right + the working yarn on the left.
4
Scoop the two lengths of yarn. The long tail is over your first finger + the working yarn is over your thumb. Hold both strands in your palm.
5
Set up your triangle. Bring the needle below the yarn on your thumb.
6
Slide needle under thumb loop, scoop the strand from your first finger, draw it back through the loop on your thumb. Drop your thumb loop + tighten.
7
Reset your triangle and repeat.
8
Continue for the number of stitches you need. Remember the slip stitch you started with counts as the first stitch.
