Let’s paint a Mad Hatter style table!
1
This table has a leather top. Proper preparation for painting requires Slick Stick.
2
Clean entire table with White Lightning.
3
Paint with a disposable brush. Two coats. 2/4 hours between coats to dry. Wait 24 hours until paint.
4
Slick Stick (primer) can be used on any surface to provide a grip for your paint.
5
This table had old brass feet. I taped off the edges and used gold spray paint to refresh.
6
One even coat to give them new shine.
7
The plan for this table is ombré. Separate brushes for each color and a misting bottle with water.
8
Starting at the base with In The Navy. Lay the separate colors down. Navy into Aubergine.
9
Aubergine into Amethyst. Once all your colors are placed down you can blend on the second coats.
10
Amethyst into Plum Crazy. Basically the darkest to the lightest. This is the first coat.
11
Make sure to cover the entire wood surface with the initial coat. Brush used, flat medium.
12
This is the table with the colors blended together. Use a spray misting bottle to help blend.
13
Ombré blends are easiest with like minded colors and separate brushes to blend.
14
Paint the raised detail in Moonshine Metallics. Gold Digger. Two coats will be needed.
15
I accented all the raised detail. Gold and purple is a amazing color combo!
16
I used blue painters tape to mark off the area where I applied the Slick Stick. This will be Cotton.
17
Two even coats of Cotton. This will be striped with Midnight Sky.
18
Tape off area to be stripes. Burnish the tape down.
19
Paint the stripes in Midnight Sky.
20
Remove tape. Touch up any areas that need fixing.
21
I painted a line of trim in Gold Digger to accent.
22
This is finished result. We will add a transfer by Redesign with Prima to the stripes to accent.
23
This transfer is called Midnight Floral. I cut it up and apply to the corners.
24
Let’s accent with Dixie Belle’s Gilding Wax! Apply to highlight edges. Warm Gold and Anastasia.
25
You can apply with your fingers or a brush. This is a great way to add glow!
26
I used Best Dang Wax in Clear to seal the entire table.
27
Look at the glowing wax. Such a beautiful detail.
28
Stripes and color to makeover the drab table.
29
Ombré blend and Gilding Wax.
