Make Your Own Thaumatrope
A Thaumatrope is an optical toy that was popular in the 19th Century. Thauma=“wonder/miracle” & trope=“to turn”
What you'll need
Pencil
Glue
Tape
Drawing Paper
Scissors
Black Marker 🖊
Skewer Stick/Chopstick
Color Markers
Trace two circles using a small bowl/cup & cut both circles out.

OPTIONAL: Carefully mark the middle of each circle to help guide where to draw your pictures.
Then, on one circle, draw one part of a simple picture. (Plants/Animal/Person/Other Object)

On the second circle, draw another element to go with your picture. (Plant/Animal/Person/Other Object)

Next, add color to all your picture parts using whatever coloring tools you have!

Paying special attention to the position of your pictures, carefully tape a pencil/stick to the back of one circle along the centerline.

Carefully tape/glue the inside faces of your circles together to finish your Thaumatrope!

Create your optical illusion by spinning the pictures together!
