Making test tiles to match size and thickness of commercial tile.

Use the commercial tile as the gauge for rolling the slab thickness.

Cut one set that is slightly thicker (approximately 1/16”) than the commercial tiles.

Cut one set with rounded edges.

Pre-paint a set with underglaze. Apply a deep base coat.

Painting one set that was cut first.

Cut the painted slabs after the underglaze layer is no longer wet.

Cut one set of tiles with rounded edges from the pre-painted slab.

All tiles are carved on the back with the planning document code.

One full set is glazed when leather-hard.

One full set is clear glazed when bone-dry.

Load in the test kiln and fire to cone 2.

Organize and review the fired test tiles.
