The meaning of the word Mandala in Sanskrit is circle.

Mandalas were first created in Tibet, China, and Japan and made out of rice, sand, or ground stone.

In North America, Native Americans also created Mandalas

It’s made of lots of balanced circles that represent the Universe. Making Mandalas feels peaceful.

Start by finding some different size circles in your house. This is my berry strainer.

And a plate.

And my tambourine.

It’s best if they are different sizes.

Now collect things you have that are the same, that you have 4 of.

I collected 4 spoons. I noticed 4 oranges on my counter.

4 quarters.

4 boots. Maybe you have 4 stones, or 4 legos, or 4 socks that match!

Now comes the fun peaceful part! (Take your time. I sped up the video)

Try and draw your mandala. Have someone cut your paper into a square.

Look closely and start in the middle.

There’s the berry strainer.

There’s the shoes. Just try and draw the 4 matching shapes. It’s ok if you make mistakes!

Now I’m adding the coins! Tricky!

I drew an extra coin by accident. I like it so I’ll add it to all the sides.

Last, I drew the spoons. I did it!

You can color it in today or another day. It’s ok if you don’t have all the colors.
