Wash the lentils, soak for an hour and boil till 90 percent done
In a large pot, heat oil and ghee and add all the whole spices. Once sizzled, add sliced onion and fry till its translucent
Add ginger garlic paste, tomatoes, green chillies and all the spices. Cover and cook for 5 minutes till tomatoes are soft.
After 5 minutes uncover and cook on high flame for few minutes. Add the potatoes, boiled masoor daal and half cup water for cooking.
add 2 cups water, bring it to boil, add the fresh mint and coriander and the rice.
Cook on high until all water evaporates. Finally cover it and steam for 2 minutes on high flame and 7-8 on low flame
