Mosaic Kit: Tips For Designing A Mosaic
Mosaic Kit
Now you have practiced! Let’s make a design.
Use various resources to make a plan.
1
You might be inspired by the tile materials!
Design on the board, draw on paper, or print out a design. Make it work for you!Use references!!
2
The pre-drilled holes are for the hanging wire. Choose horizontal or vertical.
3
The grid side is the tile side. Wrap the wire from back to front. Twist together & flatten.
Choose your tiles to make the design. Remember the grout lines will be grey.
4
Make a shard guard with a box. This can help keep flying bits from leaving the work area.
5
Nip and shape the tiles to create the design. Use a pencil to push tiles into position.
6
This can take hours and hours. Enjoy the process!
Draw a shape on the back of the tile and nip it to size.
7
Mix up the background pieces for a painterly effect.
8
The wire will eventually be stuck down, it helps to pick a tile to hold it flat.
Keep nipping and shaping tile to fill the gaps. The gaps should not be more than 1/2” inch.
The design is complete and ready to cement! The tiles can be cemented all at once, or 1 at a time.
9
Have fun! The more you practice the better you get!
