SUPPLIES NEEDED: Watercolor paper, Watercolors, Paint brushes(thin, medium/wide), Water, Mixing Palette, Paper Towel
Using a small bowl/plate, carefully trace a circle in the middle of your paper.
1
Generously wet the inside of the circle with plain water💦
2
With a larger brush & plenty of water💦 , paint a light “wash” of blue inside the whole circle.
3
Gradually add purple/violet to the wet blue wash.
4
To encourage natural bleeding & blending of the colors, add blotches of paint with a gentle tapping motion.
5
Use plenty of water 💦 and alternate between the two colors to get the cloudy/hazy effect.
6
Take your time & don’t hesitate to intensify the colors as you add more layers.
7
If your colors get too dark, just dilute with more water and/or gently dab with a paper towel.
8
Try to get as many variations of blue & violet mixed together, creating the deepest shades around the inner edge of the circle.
9
Once paint has dried for a few minutes, paint varying lengths of skinny black lines around the bottom edge of the circle.
10
Gently paint horizontal lines across the “tree trunks” to create pine tree 🌲 silhouettes.
11
Start with longer lines at the base of each tree 🌲 & gradually shorten them towards the treetops.
12
Add extra branch lines & short vertical lines between trees to create the illusion of more distant trees.
13
Lastly, add two/three extra tall trees to add more variety to your tree-line.
14
Gently drop white spots of varying sizes throughout your “night sky.” 🌌
15
Tapping your brush on a pencil, gently splatter more “stars” around your sky.
16
Feel free to add any meaningful quote/affirmations/mantra of your choice!
