Red Rock Canyon - CA’s Most Underrated State Park
Established in 1968, Red Rock Canyon State Park is located right off Hwy 14, less than 2 hours north of Los Angeles, making it a perfect LA day trip.
Hagan Canyon Nature Trail is an easy 1.2 mile hike inside the park that can be completed in less than an hour.
Red Cliffs Nature Trail is also a popular 1 mile hike here. The massive sandstone & volcanic rocks shoot up like otherworldly cathedrals over 300 ft.
There are endless rock formations to explore. You might even recognize a few spots because Hollywood has been filming here since the 1930s!
Spend all day adventuring here...just bring plenty of water & sun protection. Always check weather before a visit, as temperatures fluctuate quickly.
A visitor center & restrooms are located at the north end of the park by the Ricardo Campground area (stay here if you want to enjoy the night sky).
BONUS STOP - Fossil Falls is another unique stop, located less than 1 hr north of Red Rock if you’re continuing to Hwy 395.
