Scrap Mini Plants
Lets get wierd!
Gather scrap felt, yarn, thick paper and paints. Don't forget a glue gun and scissors!
Start by drawing lines dividing your cardstock into narrow strips approx. 1 in. long.
Now paint a background layer on each strip and let dry. These are going to be your pots!
Finish painting patterns on your strips. You can use any art medium you prefer!
Now cut your strips apart.
Finish cutting the strips a - perfection not needed but longer scissors might be :/
Then trim up the edges as needed. The final width can vary.
You're ready to shape them into pots (now is a great time to heat up the glue gun)!
First, we'll make a circular pot. Form strip into circle and hot glue overlapping edges to hold.
For a square pot, fold ~1/2 in. over 4 times, trim off end. Overlap two sides to glue into place.
A triangulr pot is the same, but this time you'll only fold over 3 times.
Finish shaping and glueing the rest of your pots.
Ready to make the plants?!
Trim your felt, or fabric, into ~1 in. wide x 3-6 in. long strips.
Now trim one edge of each strip into a freehand leaf shape.
More leaf shape ideas!
Now let's switch to yarn plants. Cut ~6 pieces ~4in. long.
Feel free to mix colors. After cutting, tie them together in the middle with a knot.
To assemble yarn plants, fold in half, glue around widest part of the knot, and insert into pot.
For felt plants, glue along the long edge, roll, and glue around outside before placing into pot.
For the final touch, trim yarn plants to shape them if they are a little long.
Now take a momemt to admire your creations!
