Seas The Day Polymer Clay Design
Roll your base color out to 1/8 inch thick.
1
Using your mermaid scale texture sheet...
2
...roll the texture over your base color. I used a brayer to do this, but you can use a rolling pin.
3
Nice texture! Let’s take it to the next level!
4
I used Color Shift acrylic paint in Aqua Flash.
5
Brush on a light layer of paint.
6
Choose your template. I used Template 819 from CreateAlong.com
7
Lay your template onto your clay.
8
With an X-Acto knife, gently cut the clay inside the template.
9
Roll a long snake from your base color. Attach this around the outer edge of your shape.
10
Great progress!
11
Using a flexible mold, choose your sea creature. I chose a seahorse.
12
Clean up the sea creature using shaping tools and X-Acto knife.
13
Using a colorful mica or pearl powder, add color and shimmer to your sea creature.
14
Use your finger to add powder...
15
... or use a soft paintbrush.
16
Use Fimo Deco Gel, or another liquid clay, to act as a glue.
17
Add a small amount, evenly, to the back of your sea creature.
18
Place your sea creature on your base.
19
Use alphabet stamps to gently press your phrase into the clay.
20
Make sure you are pleased with the placement, spacing, etc.
21
Pour a little bit of liquid clay onto your work surface.
22
Using a dedicated liquid clay brush, add a layer of liquid clay to your border.
23
Time to add gold leaf!!
24
Using dotting tools, add gold leaf to your border.
25
For the “sandy” BASD, I mixed Premo Ecru with Premo Accents Gold Glitter. Roll it out to 1/8” inch.
26
Using a toothbrush, add texture to the entire slab of clay.
27
Using a slightly larger shape from your template, cut out your sandy base.
28
Add some more texture to the newly cut edges.
29
Using a gold acrylic paint, add color to the recesses of your stamped text.
30
Add your blue shape on top of your sandy base.
32
Done! Bake according to your clay package’s instructions. I baked for 45 minutes at 275*F. Enjoy!!
