What you'll need
Underglaze
Leatherhard Clay
Clay Tools
Pour underglaze into a leather hard slab, plate, cup, or bowl.
1
Brush undeglaze evenly onto the surface of the clay. Let dry. Use a large brush for even coat.
2
Pour out/brush on a second coat of underglaze. Let dry.
3
If you can still see a bit of clay through the underglaze, add another layer. Let dry.
4
Draw your design in the clay with a tool that has a blunt end. (Sharp tools won’t work as well).
5
Try out different tools to see what works best!
6
The underglaze will lift to show the clay underneath so you don’t need to carve very deep.
7
Brush the droppings away and continue to draw whatever image you can imagine!
8
The possibilities are endless. You can create as much detail as you want.
9
Once it’s finished and dry, put it in the kiln to bisque! Enjoy!
