Pour 1 cup warm milk in bowl, add 4 tbsp sugar, scatter 2 l/4 tsp yeast over top

In 5-10 minutes the yeast will activate and get very foamy over top. Stir in 1/4 cup melted butter and one egg

Then add 3.5 cup flour, 1/2 tsp salt, and a grating of nutmeg (optional)

knead the dough into a smooth ball (5-8 minutes), place in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a cloth to put in a warm place for 1-2 hours to double

Meanwhile mix together 3/4 cup packed brown sugar, 2.5 tbsp cinnamon, 5 tbsp melted butter, 1/4 tsp salt and 2 tsp cardamom (optional)

Mix together 4 oz cream cheese, 1.5 tbsp butter then add 1/2 tsp vanilla, 1/4 and 1 cup powdered sugar. Add 2 tbsp milk

Your dough should double and spring back when touched

Roll your dough out on a lightly floured surface into approximately a 14*18 inch rectangle

Spread a thin layer of the brown sugar mix over top - a little patchiness is okay

Roll it up and slice into 12 even pieces

Place them in a lightly greased 13*9 pan, cover with a cloth, put in a warm place to rise for 30-45 minutes

They’ll double. Bake at 350F for 20-22 minutes

Cover with cream cheese frosting a few minutes after taking it out of the oven
