Spray Painted Plaid Ombré Tumbler Tutorial
Start with your cup prepped and base color painted. Add painters tape vertically for your stripes.
1
Spray paint your light grey color, making sure to get full coverage without dripping.
2
Remove your tape to reveal your stripes. Let completely dry before next step.
3
Add your horizontal stripes. Pressing the edges of tape down so no paint leaks under.
4
Combine slate and black to this layer to make a custom color. Spray light bursts from a distance.
5
This is what your mix will look like. DO NOT REMOVE THE TAPE AFTER PAINTING! Let dry.
6
Tape directly over the other tape on your vertical stripe. Make sure your edges line up.
7
Spray the entire cup black. Pull tape immediately after painting.
8
Since I’m doing the ombré. After I pulled my tape I painted the bottom silver to base my glitter.
9
After your paint is dry apply 2 thin layers of quick coat to seal. Let completely dry.
10
Apply a thin layer of resin and spread evenly.
11
Lightly sprinkle your glitter on the base of your tumbler. I sprinkle at an angle to ombré.
12
Once the glitter layer is cured, mix equal parts of resin thoroughly.
13
Apply mixed resin to your tumbler. Making sure to get even coverage. Quick torch after applying.
14
Repeat steps 13-14 if your cup isn’t smooth.
15
You can add a decal or leave as is. Then enjoy!
